Life's turns

In my first year of college a life changing event occurred that was caused by a prolonged medical obstacle that influenced my career choice. It all started in elementary school when I dislocated my knee at a volleyball game. This one incident was the first warning that something was wrong with my knees; ever since then my knees began to easily dislocate and caused many sprains. Every year since, I had fallen from a knee dislocation at least 20 times per year and all the doctors I consulted found no problem. It was not until both of my knees dislocated and caused me a fall that did not allow me to return to school, that they finally found the cause. After many exams and procedures, they gave me the option of trying therapy to avoid surgery. It was only therapy that helped me regain strength and motivation to avoid surgery, which would have permanent side effects. In therapy sessions I met many with similar or worst problems, and their debilitating conditions inspired me to give back what was given to me. The constant injuries affected my life so much. It made it difficult and frustrating to get anywhere without having a worry that at any moment my knees would fail me. Therapy did not eliminate the problem completely but it gave me a solution that I could use on my own always. I was born with my condition but strengthening certain parts of my lower extremity reduced the dislocations. This is what I want to do for other people. I want to help people in uncontrollable circumstances find a control that they could do for themselves; in this case i could use these skills in physical therapy.
